The article posits community audiovisuals as a critical experience of modernity. The authors propose a historical and critical perspective to address the transition from community cinema to audiovisuals on the margins in the city of Medellín. The case study shown, is based on three audiovisual shorts screened in the context of the Casa Solaris project. Finally, the authors find that the city’s audiovisual collectives emerged, in certain cases, as alternative processes of representing and producing the city and its imaginaries.
