The purpose of this article, after conceptualizing technology as something different from the simple application of technique over the environment, is to reveal its social character as part of the State apparatus and the result of social relations of both production and power. Its humanizing and dehumanizing nature is simultaneously expressed and depends on who creates it, uses it, and for what purposes. Finally, the authors take the discussion to the bioethical case of the responsible use of social networks as a tool for peace and reconciliation by youth in Bogota.
