The purpose of this work is to expose the main reasons why the construction of the Bogotá metro could be considered as a matter of public interest; among which, we will address issues such as: the different types of public transport that exist in other countries, the timeline of the types of public transport that Colombia has had, the public interest from an accounting perspective, the benefit of its construction for the city, national accounts, budgets, among others. This seeks to highlight the need for the construction of the Bogotá metro as a matter of public interest, which justifies the effort that its cost implies for public finances.
